Cahill Criticizes Patrick’s Management of Lawrence
Massachusetts State Treasurer and Independent candidate for Governor Tim Cahill released the following statement in regards to the city of Lawrence's fiscal crisis. He will be in Lawrence today meeting with firefighters at 11:30 am at the Lawrence Fire Station at 65 Lowell Street. Cahill will be joined by the President of the Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts, Bob McCarthy.
“A control board should have been put in place to oversee the $35 million that the state gave the city of Lawrence and placing the city into receivership should remain a possibility. Governor Patrick turned his back on the people of Lawrence and their safety the day he failed to establish oversight.
The Governor showed he has no regard for public safety when he sided with his friend Willy Lantigua who has been awol campaigning in the Dominican Republic while Lawrence has literally been burning.
While the Governor praises the surrounding communities of Lawrence for their assistance in fighting fires over the weekend, I’m concerned that communities such as Andover, North Andover and Lowell are being forced to foot the bill because of his poor management.”
